The Ogeechee Area Hospice
Since 1994, Ogeechee Area Hospice, a not-for-profit agency, has provided services to seriously ill patients in their homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and hospitals. There are times when caring for a loved-one at home is simply not possible. When symptoms require intensive management or caregivers are overwhelmed, Ogeechee Area Hospice will now have the ability to care for the needs of up to 25 patients in our inpatient/residential center. It will allow the opportunity for short term care, respite care and now hospice residential care. The tern "residential care" pertains to patients under the home level of care who do not have a family member in the home that is able to care for their needs when the hospice staff is not present. Over 90% of our hospice care takes place in the home, nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
Community funded and one of a few freestanding hospice inpatient facilities in the State of Georgia, Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient/Residential Center was creatively designed to convey a home-like atmosphere while functioning as a state-of-the-art health care facility. A 25-bed facility located in Statesboro, our patients receive 24-hour-a-day care by expert staff. The inpatient/residential center offers a relaxed environment and comfortable accommodations for families, as well. Our spacious inpatient/residential rooms, comfortable family and community rooms, the family kitchen and the chapel welcome your whole family to a place like home.
Our Nancy Bryant Hospice Center is a "home away from home" for your loved-one and his or her family. Unless medically specified, visitors are welcome at any time, day or night. Our reception area greets your family and friends to the facility. Comfortable common areas, including four family rooms, a quiet room, two family kitchens, two dining rooms and garden areas create many places for your family to gather.
Your family and friends can gather to relax, share stories and support each other in our comfortable and spacious family rooms. You can play a game, chat with friends or just sit quietly on one of our screened porches. You can also enjoy the garden and the birds that are active at the many feeders placed around the grounds and in our beautiful courtyards.
The community rooms throughout the facility offer you easy access to medical professionals and patient rooms. You can find a quiet moment of solace in the chapel, where Ogeechee Area Hospice chaplains provide spiritual support for our patients and their families. Social workers also provide emotional and psychological support to the entire family during this vulnerable time. You will find a calm and peaceful area to meet and discuss concerns in the quiet room.
The nurses station is at the heart of the Inpatient Center, providing nurses and staff quick access to patient rooms, and ready availability to you and your family when you have questions. Your loved-one will receive services through a caring and highly trained interdisciplinary team of professionals and support staff. Our registered nurses are the consistent eyes and ears on behalf of the physician giving you the peaceful reassurance that all care changes are timely delivered.
Designed with state-of-the-art equipment for the best safety and comfort, our patient rooms are practical yet cozy. You and your loved-one can relax with peace-of-mind. Although nothing can replace the comfort of one's own room, our patient rooms provide a setting for your family to relax together and enjoy treasures from home.
Home-cooked meals are served to our patients three times a day. Your family may also request a meal to be served along with your loved-one. Hospice nursing assistants also provide personal care for your loved-one, including bathing, dressing, changing bed linens, grooming and light household tasks.
Whether outdoors or in, you will always find a welcoming spot to be together. Rest easily. Ogeechee Area Hospice is by your side.
